Porsche Unveils $150,900 Taycan, Its First-Ever EV

Porsche has just unveiled its first-ever electric sports car, the Taycan.

Originally dubbed “Mission E,” the completed project will arrive to consumers in two version: the Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S. Both four-door sedans come with all-wheel drive and can reach 0-60 in 3 seconds and 2.6 seconds respectively. A dual electric motor setup produces 616 horsepower for both cars and “launch control” will give you 670 and 750 horsepower respectively. Top speed for both cars is 161 mph.

Weighing in at a little over 5,100 pounds, the 93kW battery makes up for almost one fourth of the car’s weight with its 1,389 pounds. Porsche is promising that this battery will charge from 5% to 80% in just under 23 minutes when hooked up to a 270kW charger. Porsche has also promised to build 350kW chargers at all its dealerships and at Volkswagen dealerships in North America.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo will start at $150,900 while its Turbo S counterpart will arrive starting at $185,000. In related news, check out our thoughts on the Jaguar F-TYPE SVR Convertible.
